Lessons

Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60-minute durations and follow a 32-week academic year, running from September through June. The studio calendar excludes major holidays and breaks and will be provided in advance. Lessons are individually tailored to each student’s goals, combining technical development, musical expression, and artistry in a supportive environment.

Tuition and payment

Tuition is calculated based on 32 lessons per year and is billed monthly at a flat rate, ensuring consistency even during months with fewer lessons. Tuition is due by the first of each month and is non-refundable, reserving your spot in the studio for the full term. Automatic payment is processed through Fons, and late fees apply to overdue payments. A late fee of $10 applies after the first of the month, with an additional $10 applied after the seventh. In cases of financial difficulty, I encourage open communication and am happy to discuss flexible arrangements whenever possible.

Recitals and performance opportunities

Students participate in 2 studio recitals each year, including performances at Steinway Hall. Additional opportunities such as NYSSMA, RCM exams, Piano Teachers Congress events, and local competitions are also available. While participation in performances is strongly encouraged, it is always optional, and students are guided to view performances as a positive and confidence-building experience.

Competitions and exams

I encourage participation in competitions, festivals, and exams when it aligns with a student’s personal goals. My teaching philosophy emphasizes musical growth, expression, and confidence-building, with competitions used as tools for motivation and self-improvement rather than comparison.

Attendance and cancellations

Your scheduled lesson time is reserved exclusively for you. I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. Each student receives 4 make-up lessons per year for excused absences, such as illness or emergencies. Lessons missed without prior notice will be charged in full. If I must cancel a lesson, it will always be rescheduled or credited. Virtual lessons are available as an alternative option in cases of illness or travel.

Make-up lessons

Make-up lessons beyond the 4 guaranteed per year are not guaranteed but may be offered at my discretion based on availability. The studio aims to accommodate reasonable requests while maintaining a balanced schedule for all students.

Studio etiquette

Students are expected to arrive on time, prepared with all necessary materials, including books and assignment notebooks. Lessons will conclude at the scheduled time regardless of late arrival. Parents are welcome to observe lessons when appropriate, and younger students are encouraged to be accompanied during the first few lessons.

Communication

I believe in clear and open communication and welcome questions and conversations about student progress, goals, and scheduling. Parent-teacher check-ins are available upon request. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment where every student feels empowered to develop their musical abilities and love for music.
